Restart your PC and update GPU drivers to tackle Valor Mortis crashing. On PC, check your hardware against the minimum specs too, because they assume very low settings. If the sound drops out mid-level, keep going; it comes back on its own.
What should you do if Valor Mortis keeps crashing?
Check your PC against the minimum requirements, restart it, and update your graphics drivers before launching again. Both AMD and NVIDIA players should get the latest graphics drivers.

- Restart your PC.
- Update your graphics card drivers, then try the game again.
- If crashes continue, submit a support ticket with your PC specifications. Submit crash reports too, and explain where in the game each crash happened.
Say exactly what you were doing when it crashed, like loading into a level or getting hit by a particular enemy. That's what lets the developers reproduce it.
Some AMD Radeon 7000 series cards have known stability issues. The RX 7600 can cause a system shutdown during play, while the RX 7900 XT can experience GPU crashes. AMD Anti-Lag 2 may also work improperly. The developers are working with AMD on these issues.
If your whole PC shuts off on an RX 7600, mention that in the ticket. It's the known AMD issue, not a normal crash to desktop.
What do you need to run Valor Mortis at 30 FPS?
The minimum requirements target 30 fps at 1080p on Low settings, with a 0.33 resolution scale and an upscaler enabled.

In other words, the minimum spec is for a heavily scaled-down picture. If you want higher settings or a sharper image, you'll need more than this.
The demo also had poor-performance reports from players with capable hardware. Older NVIDIA drivers had caused performance trouble, so updating drivers was part of the demo troubleshooting advice as well.
Why is the Valor Mortis demo not working?
The Steam demo was taken down on September 8, 2026, so if it won't start, that's why. Nothing is wrong with your PC.
Its Chapter I and Chapter VII were rebuilt specially for Steam Next Fest, so the full game's optimization and bug fixes never made it back into the demo.
What helped when the Valor Mortis demo kept crashing?
The demo got several hotfixes. Between them they fixed:
- crashes when old items were cleared from memory mid-level, and crashes on tutorial screens
- crashes from too many player events, and from blocking certain enemy attacks
- the Witch Hunt loading crash and a crash from corrupted blood effects
- slowdowns in Chapter 1: Revival and during the General Lothaire fight
Ray tracing was switched off along the way. If you were crashing with FSR on certain NVIDIA cards, the suggested workaround was a different graphics setup.
What helped with Valor Mortis playtest crashing?
The October 2025 playtest hotfix fixed several crashes caused by corrupted saves and stopped FSR Frame Generation from being on by default. If Frame Generation was still stuck on, the fix was to delete the old config files in:
C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Minotaur\Saved\Config\Windows
One player found that continuing an old save kept failing while a new save worked. That got them playing again, at the cost of their progress.
What should you do when Valor Mortis has no sound?
Keep playing. The audio cuts out now and then mid-level and comes back as you move on.
The demo also had a different bug where a sound looped endlessly after certain enemies died, which a hotfix toned down. If you report a sound problem, say whether it went silent or got stuck looping.
Why did the Valor Mortis demo have no DLSS?
DLSS 4.5 and XeSS 3 came back to the demo in a later hotfix, for GPUs that support them. Turning on Frame Generation there needed a game restart, an Unreal Engine limitation. The same hotfix limited AMD FSR4 Frame Generation and Anti-Lag 2 to cards that actually support them.
Once you can get through a session, pick up where you left off in the walkthrough or check the weapon list.
Status as of October 14, 2026: PC crashes and occasional audio cutouts are known issues; RX 7600 shutdowns, RX 7900 XT GPU crashes, and AMD Anti-Lag 2 problems are being addressed with AMD.
